2012  Tour de Woodford.

Doug and Troy arrived at my place at 6:15 for the short trip to Brooms Had, passing ken on the way who was checking his bike in the back of the ute. Arriving in brooms head the others started to roll in. 14 starters not a bad roll up a couple couldn't make it with excuses of entertaining brothers (Trevor) and peter and Peter with other commitments and of course the roadies that can't ride a real bike where you sit up straight LOL :>)
I offered to drive the first bit lucky for me Boshey's hill was a steep learning curve as to what lay ahead first stop to gather breath, at about 13k mark Phil offered to drive the backup vehicle (BUGGER) Mike and Dave decided to head back and my wife's words echoing in my ear (you may have bitten of more than you can chew)  22k and a couple of stops before Wooli road.

At about 2k before Wooli Road Brian passes us on his return trip looking as if he was having a relaxed ride. The rest of us mere mortals met at the road for some energy boost. Next moment a car and trailer turned up and Norm introduced himself and out comes some sliced orange, he was doing the back up for another group of Roadie riders from Lismore who were doing a couple of days ride, they had been in Yamba on Friday night and Ulmarra on Sat night finishing in Minni Water For lunch, 2 of their riders Jo and Rosanna had ridden with us before and as they flashed by it was with a big surprised wave that we greeted them.

For the return Rhonda put her bike in the Back  for a rest and of we went, Nigel joining her some Ks down the track. Climbing a Rise 2k before Boshey's I came to the sign Range Road  at this point I couldn't go on any further and got off to walk and wait for the ute with trembling legs I could hear it coming thinking I was the last one and then came Roger Expecting him to stop, he continues on for the last 2k climb made me feel a bit wimpy but at that point I had had it. Rhonda got her bike out for the ride up the hill to meet the others and Nigel and I continued on Roger walking the Last bit.
8.8 Ks to Broom I stayed on as driver while the others mounted for the last time. The Climb that was so daunting 3 hrs ago was now a steep decent leading onto the coastal plains of Brooms Head and the Sandon road.
